Are Dogs allowed on Jacksonville Beach, FL?

October 15, 2015

Although a leash is required in Jacksonville Beach, many dog owners don't let it bother them.  If you have a long retractable leash and you don't mind getting a little wet, there's a good chance your little friend won't even realize he's on a leash!   Many residents would love to see the leash law relaxed, but as we all know... not everyone likes dogs and even the friendliest of them scare some people.  So, in an effort to make our beach enjoyable for everyone, the leash law stays in effect.  The city even restricts dogs from being on the beach from 9am-5pm.  This rule doesn't seem to pose a problem because you still have a good 2 hours in the morning and in the evening to excercise your dog.
