Jacksonville Beach in the Spring

May 2, 2015

Jacksonville Beach, FL is officially open!  With the annual beaches parade and sandcastle building contest last weekend, April 25-26, 2015, our tourist are starting to flock in!  The weather this time of year is incredible.  It's in the 50's at night and mid 70's during the day.

The beach is hard packed sand, wide at low tide and great for biking, jogging and playing football and other beach games.  As you can imagine, shell collecting is popular as well.  Many people spend hours looking for sharks teeth in this type of shell bed.  Most of the teeth are solid black and considered good luck to find.

The location of South Jax Beach Rental is indicated by the high rise condos on the left side of this photo.  A wonderful, relaxing 2 mile walk is south from the beach rental to the county line, where Duval County (Jacksonville Beach) meets St. Johns County (Ponte Vedra).  The poles you see in the water mark the line.
